Do I have to pay the entire bond amount?

No, if you use a bail bondsman, he will generally charge you about 10% of the bond amount.

 

What is meant by having a signer or co-signer?

Surety bail bondsmen will require someone to sign financial responsibility for the appearance of the defendant to all his court dates. The co-signer will usually have to have the appropriate financial standing according to the bond amount?

Corporate surety is just another name for bail bondsman.

 

Do I receive the 10% payment back when my case is done?

No, the premium for the bond is non-refundable.

 

How long will my court case last, and how many appearances will I be required to make?

Cases can last more than a year, but most are completed in about 4 months. You will usually be required to make 3 to 4 appearances, but the number can be higher.

 

What happens if I miss a court appearance?

Usually, the judge will issue a bench warrant, you’ll be arrested and obtain a new charge of Failure to Appear.
